Online Interior Decorator – Throw Pillows on My Mind

This week seems to be the week of throw pillows for me as an online interior decorator. It seems I have spent days on end looking for a collection of eclectic pillows to pull together on a larger sectional. My goal was a pillow collection that actually looked collected and almost imperfect. Here is the look I was looking to achieve but tailor for my client using navy blue, rust and orange.

My pillow inspiration was the Carson Crewel Stripe Pillow Cover. From the colors to the pattern, this pillow was the perfect foundation to our collection.

My latest online interior decorator find to share are area rugs by Kate Spade. For years, many of us gals have had a love affair with Kate Spade bags. I recall purchasing a Kate Spade diaper bag when my son was first born; I thought I had reached the height of new mommy chic.

As many top designers do, Kate Spade has ventured to the world of home décor. While there are countless décor items to make you swoon (furniture, bedding, throw pillows and more), nothing speaks to my interior decorator heart as much as the area rugs.

The Look for Less – Driftwood Sculptures

While we are in the midst of the dog days of summer, I can’t help but wish I was relaxing on the beach. Rather I am at my desk working; aren’t most of us? Yet, my interior design ideas keep lingering toward my dreams of the coast.

Luckily, the design project currently on the boards is a beach inspired Living Room. Think true southern beach rather than a literally, nautical look. Thus, I have been on a quest for a sculpture that hits the right note of organic, beach cool.

Found the dream sculpture at one of my go to sources, Arteriors Home. Unfortunately, the price of the Kazu Small Sculpture did not fit the allotted budget at $495.00.

Luckily, I found another driftwood sculpture that I liked almost as much at Home Decorators. Their Davis Driftwood Sculpture is only $59.00 – much more in keeping with the budget.

So by now most of us have heard of or better yet have been watching Fixer Upper on HGTV. The “look” is causal, comfortable, family friendly and the designs are incredibly well done. I have often been asked to create designs for clients in a “Fixer Upper” style.

The Look for Less – Turquoise Beaded Chandeliers

One of my favorite clients, Beth, has had both of us on a quest for a fun chandelier to be used over her existing dining table. The color scheme for her home is blue on blue on blue – all shades blended together. Think Florida beach without a nautical twist.

In our search we found this amazing light from Currey and Company. The price, well let’s just say retail is well over $4,000.00. While this fixture is perfect, we had to look for something similar in Beth’s budget.

So here is what we found from Junk Gypsy Company – the Wanderlust Chandelier. The price – only $395.00.
